Siem Reap

Land Area: 12.150 kmē
Population: 935.000

Home to temples of Angkor (designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992). Angkor Wat, one of the worlds greatest archeological wonders that once formed the heart of the Khmer Empire.

Kampong Thom

Land Area: 13.814 kmē
Population: 734.000

It is home to the archeological and historical ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk.

Battambang

Land Area: 11.622 kmē
Population: 1.082.000

The town of Battambang is Cambodias second largest city. An riverside town and home of some of the best-preserved colonial architecture in the country.

Kampong Chhnang

Land Area: 5.521 kmē
Population: 553.000

Old colonial town, specialized in pottery and is considered as the provincial port which supplies daily fresh fish to Phnom Penh city.

Kampong Cham

Land Area: 9.779 kmē
Population: 2.027.000

Pleasant town on the river. Kampong Cham is the most populated privnce of Cambodia. The Cham ethnic minority lives here.

Kampong Speu

Kampong Speu is known for gold artefacts dating back to Angkorian times. Tourist sites: Oudong, Phnom Praseth, Kirirom National Park.

Kandal

Land Area: 3.556 kmē
Population: 1.362.000

Kampot

Land Area: 4.873 kmē
Population: 655.000

The terrain is a varied mix, characterized by flatland regions used for agricultural production and hilly regions that are sparsely populated. The highest peak is Bokor at 1079 metres above sea level.

Takeo

Land Area: 3.562 kmē
Population: 978.000

Takeo has been the capital of Khmer Empire, place to visit the old temples in Angkor Borei, the former capitol of Cambodia in the third century. In the wet season it becomes a lakeside town.
